Attendee management troubleshooting
Symptoms you may see in the attendee panel, and what each one means.
The panel is not there at all
| Cause | Fix |
|---|---|
| Attendee functionality is disabled | Settings → POM Events → General — the switch removes every attendee interface |
| The active theme is not the POM theme | The whole event runtime is absent, not just the panel |
| You are looking at a post, not an event | The panel exists on events only |
Existing registrations are not deleted when the functionality is switched off. Turning it back on brings them back.
Someone says they registered but they are not in the list
Check, in this order:
- The other two sections. They may be on the waiting list or cancelled, not confirmed.
- The event. Registrations belong to one event; a similar event is a different list.
- The email address they used. The registration is keyed to it. A typo means a different registration, or none.
- Whether registration succeeded. The form refuses without a name or an email, and a duplicate is refused with a message the visitor may have dismissed.
Someone is on the waiting list unexpectedly
The event was full when they registered: the registration count had reached Available space.
Check the capacity on the Attendants tab against the number of registrations. Common causes:
- the capacity is lower than intended;
- test registrations are still occupying places;
- cancelled registrations that were never promoted from the waiting list.
See A registration was wait-listed unexpectedly.
The Assistants count does not match what I see
The Assistants column on the events list counts confirmed registrations only. Waiting-list and cancelled rows are excluded.
So a list of twenty rows can legitimately show a count of twelve. Compare the count with the Confirmed section, not with the whole table.
A name is wrong or missing
The name comes from the WordPress user account behind the registration, not from a value stored on the event.
Correct it under Users, and the attendee panel will show the corrected name.
A comment does not open
Rows with no comment show a dash rather than an icon. If a row you expect to have a comment shows a dash, the field was probably not enabled on that event when the person registered.
Check Registration form → Form fields; a field disabled after registrations were taken does not remove values already stored, but a field that was never enabled was never collected.
A telephone or country is missing
Same reason: the field was not enabled for that event, so it was never asked for. Enabling it now applies to future registrations only.
The export opens as one column
The exported data uses semicolons between values. Tell your spreadsheet application that the separator is a semicolon, or use its Text to Columns action.
This is deliberate — comments contain commas often enough that a comma-separated file would break.
A registration disappeared
Two possibilities:
- it was deleted from the cancelled section, which is permanent;
- the event was trashed, taking its list with it.
Neither is recoverable inside the plugin. The export you took beforehand is the only record — which is why exporting before any deletion is worth making a rule.
Promoting someone did not notify them
Correct: POM Events sends no emails, in either direction. Moving a registration between statuses is administrative only.
Contact the person yourself, using the email or telephone link on their row.
Two registrations for the same person
Possible when they used two different email addresses. The duplicate rule works per email address, per event.
Cancel one of them and keep the other. If it matters which, keep the one with the more complete details.
I promoted more people than there are places
Nothing prevents it. The plugin does not enforce capacity on manual moves.
Compare the Confirmed section with the real capacity after a promotion round, and move the surplus back to the waiting list.
Before asking for help
Note the event, its dates, whether attendee functionality is enabled, which section the person is in, the email address involved, and the exact wording of any message.
Never send attendee lists, exports or screenshots showing personal data. See Safe information to send with a support request.
