Connect products to an event
Associating a product turns an event from free registration into paid access.
Where
Events settings → E-Commerce → Associated products, described as: If there is an associated product, it will be necessary to buy the product to sign up for the event.
The tab only exists when WooCommerce is active.
Link a product
- Create the product in WooCommerce first — published, priced and purchasable.
- Open the event.
- Open the E-Commerce tab.
- Select the product in Associated products.
- Update the event.
- Open the event signed out and confirm the button now reads Get access.
What changes immediately
| Before | After |
|---|---|
| Registration button with your label | Get access |
| A modal form on the page | A path to the WooCommerce checkout |
| Attendee created on form submit | Attendee created after the order |
The event's own form fields stop being used in this path: the buyer's details come from the order instead.
Naming the product
The product is what appears in the cart, at checkout, in the order and in the order emails. Name it so a buyer recognizes it three weeks later:
Ticket — Spring tasting, 14 March 2026
Not Ticket, and not the event's internal name. Include the date: a buyer scanning their order history has no other clue.
One product per event, ideally
The button works with a single product identity. Associating several products makes the event's catalogue relationship richer but does not turn the button into a chooser — it uses one of them.
If you need several prices — full, reduced, member — see Multiple products and one event for the workable patterns.
Capacity still applies
The event's Available space is unchanged by the product. A buyer arriving after the event is full is enrolled on the waiting list — after paying.
Decide before launch how you handle that:
- keep the event capacity above what you will sell, and control availability through product stock; or
- keep them equal and accept that you will occasionally refund; or
- monitor both daily.
The plugin does not synchronize event capacity with product stock.
Removing the association
Clearing the field returns the event to the built-in registration form. Existing attendees, whether they registered or purchased, stay in the list.
Do not remove the association while orders are still arriving: buyers mid-checkout will complete an order that no longer matches the page they came from.
Verify
- Associate a published product and update the event.

- Select it and confirm the product reaches the cart and the checkout.
- Complete a test order.
- Confirm the buyer appears in the event's attendee list.
- Confirm the order records the event — see Event data in orders.
