Registration errors and messages

Every message a visitor can see when registering, what it means, and what to do about it.

Success messages

Message Meaning
You have successfully signed up! The registration was stored and confirmed
This event has reached its available space. You have been moved to the waiting list. Stored, but on the waiting list because the capacity is reached

Both are normal outcomes. The second is not an error, and the wording is deliberately explicit so the visitor understands their status.

Messages from the page

Message Meaning

Full event The capacity is reached

Messages from event lists

Message Meaning
Sorry, no events matched your search criteria. The search returned nothing, and no custom error message is configured
Your own text The Error message from Settings → POM Events → Archive
There are no events for the chosen month. The calendar month has no events, unless the shortcode sets a custom message

The duplicate message is the most common

This user is already signed up for this event is the message organizers are asked about most, and it almost always means exactly what it says: that address is already on one of the three lists.

Before replying to the person, check the attendee panel:

  • Confirmed — they have a place; tell them so;
  • Waiting list — they are queued; tell them where they stand;
  • Cancelled — they registered and were cancelled; move them back to confirmed if that is what should happen.

The message does not distinguish between the three, so the panel is where you find out.

No message at all

If nothing happens on submit:

  1. Reload the page once and try again.
  2. Confirm the consent checkbox is ticked, when one is shown.
  3. Try another browser, and a private window.
  4. Confirm the event is published and its end date has not passed.
  5. Confirm the theme is the POM theme — the whole registration runtime depends on it.

Messages you will never see

POM Events sends no emails. There is no confirmation email, no reminder, no notification to the organizer.

If your public copy promises a confirmation email, either remove the promise or build the notification through the registration hook — see Registration lifecycle hooks.

Changing the wording

The button labels are per event and configurable. The form's own messages, placeholders and headings come from the plugin's translations and follow the site's language rather than being edited per event.

The two list messages — the archive Error message and the calendar's message — are configurable, in the Archive settings and the shortcode respectively.

Verify

  1. Submit with the name empty and confirm the required-fields message.
  2. Register successfully and confirm the success message.
  3. Register again with the same address and confirm the duplicate message.
  4. Fill the event and confirm the waiting-list message.
  5. Search for something with no results and confirm your configured error message appears.
