Calendar shortcode

The reference for [pom_events_fullcalendar].

Usage

[pom_events_fullcalendar]

With a styling class:

[pom_events_fullcalendar el_class="programme-calendar"]

The same option is available on the page-builder element.

Attributes

Attribute Effect
el_class An extra CSS class on the calendar container

That is the only attribute. Everything else is fixed.

What it renders

A month calendar containing every published event, with each entry carrying:

  • the event title;
  • its start and end, from the event's stored datetimes;
  • a link to the event page;
  • its event category slugs as classes on the entry.

The calendar's language follows the site's language setting.

Styling by category

The category slugs on each entry are the supported way to color-code a calendar. A stylesheet can target them:

#events-calendar .concerts { background: #7a3; }
#events-calendar .workshops { background: #37a; }

Use the category slugs exactly as they appear in the Categories screen. An event in two categories carries both classes.

This is the single most valuable customization for a programme with several strands, and it needs no plugin changes.

What it does not accept

There is no attribute for:

  • limiting the calendar to a category or type;
  • excluding past events;
  • setting the initial month;
  • choosing a week or list view;
  • limiting how many events are loaded.

For a filtered listing, use the search form instead.

Placement

One calendar per page. Two instances on the same page share the same container conventions and will not behave predictably.

Put it on its own page, or below the search form.

Requirements

  • The POM theme must be active, like everything else in the plugin.
  • Events must be published; drafts and scheduled events do not appear.
  • Events need valid start and end datetimes to be placed correctly.

An event with a missing or malformed date is the usual reason for an entry that does not appear where you expect.

Verify

  1. Place the shortcode and open the page signed out.
  2. Confirm the events appear on the correct days.
  3. Confirm each entry links to its event.
  4. Add el_class and confirm it reaches the container.
  5. Inspect an entry and confirm its category slugs are present as classes.
  6. Check the calendar on a phone.
