Remaining places
Display remaining space shows visitors how many places are left on the event page.
Where
Events settings → Attendants → Display remaining space — If enabled, the number of remaining spaces will show on front.
What visitors see
The display depends on the capacity:
| Event | Shown |
|---|---|
| Available space left empty | No capacity limit |
| Capacity set, places remaining | The number of places left |
| Capacity set, none remaining | Full event |
It is printed above the registration button, in large type, so it is one of the first things a visitor reads.
When to enable it
Enable it when scarcity is real and useful:
- limited workshops and courses;
- guided visits with a hard capacity;
- events that reliably fill;
- anything where you want registrations sooner rather than later.
Leave it off when the number would discourage people:
- a large room expecting a modest turnout — 186 places tells visitors nobody is coming;
- a new event with no audience yet;
- events where capacity is not really a constraint.
The number is honest either way; the question is whether it helps.
The unlimited case
With no capacity set and the switch on, the page states there is no capacity limit. That is a positive message for an open event — nobody has to wonder whether they will get in.
If neither the number nor that statement is useful, turn the switch off.
The full case
When the event is full, the page says so plainly. Combined with the button — which offers the waiting list — a visitor understands both facts at once: it is full, and there is still something they can do.
That pairing is why the display is worth enabling on events that fill: without it, a waiting-list button appears without explanation.
It updates as registrations arrive
The number reflects the registrations stored on the event, so it moves as people sign up. It is not a manual counter.
If the number looks wrong, look at the attendee panel: the three lists are the source of truth, and manual moves between them affect what visitors see.
What it does not do
- It does not reserve a place while someone fills in the form.
- It does not warn you when the event is nearly full — check the Assistants column on the events list for that.
- It does not appear in event lists or in the calendar, only on the event page.
- It is not shown at all when attendee functionality is disabled site-wide.
Verify
- Enable the switch and set a capacity.
- Open the event signed out and confirm the number is right.
- Register once and confirm the number decreases.
- Fill the event and confirm it reads Full event.
- Clear the capacity and confirm it reads No capacity limit.
