The single event page
Every event has its own page, rendered by the plugin's own template. This is what it contains, in the order it renders, and which parts you can turn off.
The structure
- Subheader — the event title over the header image, with its categories.
- Previous and next arrows — navigation between events, ordered by start date.
- Date block — the start and end dates, side by side.
- Details sidebar — date, category, place, organizer, telephone, Add to my calendar, and additional link buttons.
- Remaining places — when enabled on the event.
- The button — registration, or Get access with WooCommerce.
- Go back — when enabled site-wide.
- Title — when enabled site-wide.
- Introduction — the event's introductory text.
- Featured image — when enabled site-wide.
- Content — the editor content.
- Related content — when configured.
Empty fields render nothing at all, so a sparse event produces a clean page rather than a page of empty labels.
What you control site-wide
Settings → POM Events → Single event:
| Setting | Effect |
|---|---|
| Disable subheader | Removes the title-over-image band at the top |
| Display title | Prints the title again in the content column |
| Hide "Add to calendar" button | Removes the calendar link from the sidebar |
| Display "Go back" button | Adds a back link, with its own label and URL |
| Header image | Whether the subheader uses the event's featured image or one custom image for every event |
| Custom header image | That custom image |
| Display featured image before content | Prints the featured image above the content |
| Related content label, excerpt, link | The related block's presentation |
These apply to every event. There is no per-event override.
The subheader and the title
Note the interaction: the subheader already prints the title over the image. Display title prints it again in the content column.
Sensible combinations:
| Subheader | Display title | Result |
|---|---|---|
| On | Off | The usual choice — one title, over the image |
| Off | On | A plain page with a normal heading |
| On | On | The title twice — rarely wanted |
| Off | Off | No title anywhere — almost never right |
The details sidebar
The sidebar is the fact sheet, and it skips anything empty. It prints, in order: the date and end date, the event category, the place, the organizer, the telephone, the add-to-calendar link, and the additional link buttons.
Because it is fixed, the way to control it is to control the event's fields. Leave a field empty and its line disappears.
Previous and next
The arrows move between events in start date order, not publication order. They give visitors a way to browse the programme from any event page.
They are automatic and cannot be curated. For a deliberate relationship between two events, use related content.
The registration area
Between the sidebar and the content sits the action area: the remaining-places display, then the button. Both depend on the event's own settings and on whether attendee functionality is enabled site-wide.
With attendee functionality disabled, nothing in this area is rendered and the page becomes a pure announcement.
What is not on the page
- The event's hashtag, which is stored but not printed by this template.
- The attendee list, which is never public.
- The price, which lives on the WooCommerce product.
- A map, which you add as an additional link or in the content.
Verify
- Open a complete event signed out.
- Check every element in the structure list above.
- Open a sparse event and confirm empty fields render nothing.
- Toggle the subheader and title settings and confirm the effect.
- Check the page on a phone, where the sidebar stacks under the content.
