Troubleshoot shortcode output
Work from the smallest visible symptom. Save the builder content before testing the public page.
Raw shortcode text appears
- Confirm the shortcode name exists in the reference.
- Check opening and closing tags.
- Check quotes around values containing spaces or punctuation.
- Confirm a child shortcode remains inside its required parent.
- Reopen the element in Page Builder and save it again.
An unregistered or misspelled shortcode is not rendered.
The element is missing
- Check the element, column and row Device visibility.
- Confirm required content, IDs and source selections are not empty.
- Confirm the selected page, menu, form, query, template or taxonomy still exists.
- Confirm required plugins or Theme Option features are active.
- Test with a representative logged-in or logged-out user.
An interaction does not work
For a modal, off-canvas panel or slider action, confirm the trigger target exactly matches the component ID and is unique on the page. For tabs, accordions, sliders and carousels, preserve their parent/child structure.
A listing or filter is empty
- Confirm the saved query returns published content.
- Confirm the custom feed template is selected and usable.
- Confirm Faceted Search controls and results share the same context.
- Clear current filters.
- Update the relevant Faceted Search index after changing indexed data.
A component looks unstyled
Confirm the active theme assets were generated after the relevant settings change. Then remove invalid custom classes, inspect parent layout settings and verify that the chosen component is supported in the current context.
A migrated shortcode behaves differently
Site-specific IDs and encoded selections may not transfer between sites. Re-select pages, menus, forms, queries, reusable blocks, taxonomies, templates and media through the destination site's builder controls.
Information to collect
Record the public URL, shortcode name, relevant visible settings, user state, viewport and expected outcome. Do not include passwords, license keys or private visitor data.
