Create and maintain the global color palette

POM Theme provides 15 numbered palette entries under Settings → POM Theme → Design system → Color palette.

Plan the numbers

Assign each number a stable role before entering values. For example, reserve entries for:

• primary and secondary brand colors;
• main text and muted text;
• light and dark surfaces;
• borders;
• success, notice, and error accents.

The interface labels remain Color #1 through Color #15, so keep an external brand reference that records the meaning of each number.

Enter the palette

1. Open Color palette.
2. Set the approved hexadecimal value for each required entry.
3. Leave unused entries unchanged rather than filling them with arbitrary duplicates.
4. Save the subsection.
5. Open Theme preview to inspect the swatches.

Palette-aware controls throughout the theme select a number rather than storing a separate color. This is what makes a later palette correction global.

Change an existing color safely

Before replacing a populated entry:

1. identify its current role;
2. review where the number is selected in Design system, Site layout, Forms, templates, and Page Builder;
3. replace the value;
4. inspect text contrast, backgrounds, borders, buttons, forms, and notices;
5. check both normal and interactive states.

Do not repurpose a number from “main text” to “accent” on an established site. Add the new role to an unused entry and migrate selections deliberately.

Verification

Review the public site while signed out and confirm that text remains readable, focus is visible, status colors are not the only way information is conveyed, and no palette change makes a background and its content indistinguishable.
