Troubleshoot the builder interface
Use this guide when the WordPress editing screen, element library, canvas, or settings dialog is unavailable or unresponsive. For a page that saves correctly but renders incorrectly, use Troubleshoot the published page.
Page Builder is not available
Confirm:
- POM Theme is active on the current site.
- You can edit the current post.
- Page Builder is enabled for this content type.
- Your role is allowed to use Page Builder.
If another user can open the builder for the same post type, compare role access rather than changing the page content.
The editor mode switch is missing
The Text Editor switch is available when the current role can use the Classic Editor alongside Page Builder. Administrators and multisite network super administrators always retain this editor-mode access. For other roles, check Settings → Page builder → Backend editor → Disable Classic editor.
A component is absent from the library
Search by the visible component name. Then check whether:
- your role is allowed to use it;
- its related theme feature or integration is enabled;
- a required plugin is active;
- the current container accepts that child type.
Open the library from a normal column to distinguish a role or feature problem from a parent-child restriction.
A component cannot be dropped
Normal content belongs in a column. Specialized child items belong in their matching container.
Collapse unrelated rows, drag by the move control, wait for a valid destination to highlight, and release only when the intended parent is clear.
A settings dialog does not show an expected field
Fields can depend on an earlier selection or appear in a different group. Review the complete dialog, select the relevant source or mode, and check again. Not every component supports every background, spacing, visibility, or advanced field.
Controls stop responding
Save the post if possible, then reload the editor. Avoid editing the same page in multiple tabs. If the problem started after Raw HTML or a custom script change, remove that change from the most recent recoverable revision before continuing.
Information to collect
Record the post type, page URL, component name, editor mode, WordPress role, action that stopped working, and a screenshot of the canvas. Do not include API keys or private form data.
