Connect the POM Theme license

The POM Theme license authorizes the current domain and private theme updates. It does not switch the public frontend on or off: POM keeps rendering during a temporary licensing-service outage, although validation and update downloads may be unavailable.

Open Settings → POM Theme → License. POM Theme uses the canonical product slug pom; a key for another POM product cannot authorize it.

What the screen shows

Before a key is connected, the section provides a masked license field and Save and validate.

After validation, it can show:

• the masked key;
• connection status;
• authorized domain;
• plan;
• expiration information;
• Replace and validate;
• Revalidate;
• Unlink.

The complete saved key is not displayed again. Retrieve the original from My Account → Licenses & Downloads when it must be entered on another authorized installation.

Validate a site

1. Confirm WordPress uses the final public site URL for this environment.
2. Open Settings → POM Theme → License.
3. Paste the POM Theme key.
4. Select Save and validate.
5. Wait for the screen to report a valid connection and the expected domain.
6. Open Dashboard → Updates and allow WordPress to check for theme updates.

Validation connects the normalized site domain to the subscription. A staging host, temporary host, and production host can count as different authorizations even when they contain the same WordPress database.

Understand domain capacity

Each distinct authorized domain uses capacity until it is deactivated. Installing the same ZIP on another host does not move the existing authorization.

If validation reports that the limit is reached:

1. Review the authorized domains in the POM account.
2. Remove a retired or duplicate environment where appropriate.
3. Confirm the current site uses its intended canonical domain.
4. Validate again, or change to a plan with sufficient capacity.

Revalidate or replace a key

Use Revalidate when the same key should remain connected but its subscription, domain, plan, or expiry state may have changed.

Use Replace and validate when the site must move to a different POM Theme key. Keep the existing connection available until the replacement key and its domain capacity have been confirmed.

After either action, verify the displayed domain and run a fresh update check.

Unlink a site

Use Unlink when retiring the site, moving the public domain, or transferring it to another subscription.

Unlinking asks the account service to deactivate the current domain and then removes the local connection. If the remote deactivation cannot be completed, the local entry is retained so the site does not silently lose track of the authorization.

For a domain migration:

1. Back up the site.
2. Unlink the old public installation while it is still reachable.
3. Change the WordPress URLs through the approved migration process.
4. Open the replacement domain's License section.
5. Save and validate the key.
6. Confirm the new domain and update check.

Copying the database does not reassign a domain automatically.

Multisite

POM Theme stores one network-scoped license for the whole multisite network. Do not treat every subsite as an independent POM Theme license installation.

1. Use an Unlimited plan.
2. Activate POM on the network main site when using the theme's local updater.
3. Open the main site's Settings → POM Theme → License as a network administrator.
4. Save and validate the network key.
5. Run updates from Network Admin → Dashboard → Updates.

Every subsite License section explains the main-site requirement. Network-enabling POM makes it available to subsites but does not activate its code on the main site.

Troubleshoot validation

• The key is rejected: copy the POM Theme key again and remove leading or trailing whitespace.
• The subscription is expired: renew it, then use Revalidate.
• The domain is wrong: confirm the WordPress site URL and whether this is a staging, temporary, or migrated host.
• The domain limit is reached: deactivate an unused authorization or increase plan capacity.
• A connection error appears: confirm outbound HTTPS access and retry later.
• Validation succeeds but no update appears: refresh WordPress update checks and review the multisite main-site requirements when applicable.

Protect the key

Treat the license key as a credential. Never place it in content, screenshots, source control, support logs, browser URLs, or public documentation. A support request should include the masked status, domain, visible error, WordPress topology, and reproduction steps—not the key itself.
