Plan and configure subheaders

The subheader is the optional title area between the main header and page content. POM Theme provides a global presentation and context-specific overrides so archives, single entries, authors, search results, WooCommerce screens, and public custom post types can use an appropriate variation.

Establish the global subheader

Open Settings → POM Theme → Site layout → Subheader → Global subheader.

1. Enable Enable subheader area globally?
2. Choose whether to Display title.
3. Set Title color.
4. Select the Subheader size.
5. Add a Subheader background image.
6. Add a separate Subheader background image for mobile when the desktop crop is unsuitable for narrow screens.
7. Configure an optional solid or gradient overlay and its alpha.
8. Enable the parallax and scroll-opacity effects only when they support the design.
9. Save and review a normal page before adding overrides.

Understand the override model

Each supported context begins with Override default subheader settings? When that control is disabled, the context inherits the global subheader. When enabled, the context can replace the relevant enablement, size, title color, background, overlay, and parallax settings.

The available context groups include:

• Post archives for the blog archive, categories, and tags
• Single posts
• Author archives
• Search results
• Shop page when WooCommerce is active
• Single and archive groups for configured public custom post types

WooCommerce and custom-post-type groups appear only when those features are available.

Use the context-specific content

Some groups expose information that does not belong in the global design:

• Post archives can display category thumbnails and descriptions and can define category background behavior.
• Single posts can show the author avatar and name and optionally link them.
• Author archives can use a title containing {{author}} and position the Gravatar or biography.
• Supported single custom post types can expose the same author presentation controls as single posts.

Configure these only when the information helps visitors understand the current screen.

Decide between inheritance and replacement

Prefer inheritance when only the page title changes. Create an override when a whole class of pages needs a different image, size, or information hierarchy. Too many overrides make the site harder to keep visually consistent.

After saving, verify:

1. A standard page using the global treatment.
2. A blog archive and category.
3. A single post.
4. An author archive and search result.
5. Relevant custom post type and WooCommerce URLs.
6. Desktop and mobile crops for every custom background.
