A license key is rejected
Use this guide when a Pomatio plugin or theme refuses a key, reports an invalid license or does not add the current domain to its license card.
Before changing anything
Do not rotate the key. Rotation immediately invalidates the old key on every site, which can turn a one-site problem into a multi-site outage.
Have administrator access to the WordPress site and access to the owning Pomatio account.
Check the license card
- Open My Account → Licenses & Downloads.
- Find the exact product and confirm its badge is active.
- Confirm the plan has an available domain slot, unless its allowance is unlimited.
- Select Reveal key, then Copy. Do not copy the masked prefix from the collapsed card.
- Compare the site's product name with the license card; a key is valid only for its own product.
Retry on the site
- Open the product's License settings on the affected WordPress site.
- Remove spaces before or after the key and paste the freshly copied value.
- Save and run the product's validation action.
- Reload the license settings and note the exact message.
- Return to Licenses & Downloads and confirm the domain appears under the license.
The site must be able to make outbound HTTPS requests. A firewall, maintenance environment or blocked DNS request can prevent validation even when the key itself is correct.
Domain allowance and environment
If the card shows no free slot, deactivate a domain you no longer use and retry. Staging and development installations can still appear in the active-domain list; the card's environment label does not make an occupied slot disappear automatically.
Only remove a domain you recognize and control. If an unknown domain appears, preserve evidence of the hostname and consider rotating the key after you have prepared every legitimate site.
Expected result
The product reports a valid active license, the current hostname appears in the license card and private updates can be checked from WordPress.
If the key is still rejected
Send support:
- the product name and installed version;
- the account email address;
- the masked license prefix only;
- the affected hostname;
- the exact license status and error message;
- whether WordPress can make other outbound HTTPS requests.
Never send the full key or a WordPress password. See Share support information safely.
