Reveal and copy your license key
The key is hidden by default. Here is how to get it, and how to handle it once you have it.
Revealing it
- Open Licenses & Downloads.
- Find the product's card. The key shows as a short prefix followed by dots.
- Select Reveal key.
- The full key appears, with Copy beside it.
- Select Copy. The button confirms with Copied.
It is masked again on the next load
Revealing shows the key for that page view only. Reload, navigate away and back, or return tomorrow, and it is masked again.
That is deliberate: a key left visible on a screen is a key that ends up in a screenshot or a screen share. Reveal it when you need it, paste it, and move on.
The prefix
The masked form shows the beginning of the key. It is enough to tell two licenses apart when you own several of the same product, and it is safe to mention in a support conversation — unlike the key itself.
Where the key goes
Into the product's own settings on your site, in its license field. Each Pomatio product has one; the product's documentation says exactly where.
Paste and save. The site then contacts Pomatio, and the domain appears in your license card's domain list.
Handling it safely
Your license key is a credential. Anyone who has it can activate your product on their sites, consuming your allowance.
| Do | Do not |
|---|---|
| Keep the account as the authoritative copy | Email it, to anyone |
| Reveal it when you need it | Paste it into a support ticket or chat |
| Store it in a password manager if you must store it | Commit it to a repository |
| Rotate it if it has been exposed | Publish it in documentation or a screenshot |
Support never needs the key to identify your license. If someone asks for it, that alone is worth questioning.
If several people need to work with the product
Do not share the purchasing account password or circulate the full key. Keep an accountable account owner and use the organization's approved access process when another person must perform the activation. A key forwarded through several inboxes should be treated as exposed — and rotating it invalidates the old key on every site at once.
If it has already been exposed
Rotate it. The new key works immediately, and the old one stops working everywhere at that moment, so plan the moment. See Rotate a compromised key.
Copy failing
The Copy button uses your browser's clipboard. If nothing is copied — some browsers refuse on insecure connections or with strict privacy settings — select the key text manually and copy it the usual way.
