Download limits
Manual downloads from the account are capped. Here is how the caps work and what to do when you hit one.
The two limits
| Limit | Counts |
|---|---|
| Per release | How many times you have downloaded the current version on this license |
| Per 7 days | Your rolling total of manual downloads for this license |
Both are shown on the license card, above the buttons:
Downloads of v1.4.2: 2 of 3 used Last 7 days: 4 of 10 used
The exact allowances come from your plan. Where a plan does not state its own, the defaults are 3 per release and 10 per 7 days.
What happens when you reach one
Download ZIP is disabled and the exhausted counter is highlighted. Attempting the download anyway returns a message naming the limit you reached.
The per-release message explains the important part: the counter resets with the next product release. It is not a monthly quota and it does not unblock on a fixed date.
The weekly limit is a rolling window, so it frees up as your older downloads age out.
Why the limits exist
They are there to make a leaked license key visible and expensive rather than convenient. A key that quietly downloads dozens of packages is a key being used by people who did not buy it.
For normal use — installing a product on the sites you own — the allowance is generous. If you are consistently reaching it, something about your workflow is worth changing.
Avoiding them
The limits count manual downloads from the account. Automatic updates on your sites do not consume them.
So:
- Let sites update themselves. This is the biggest saving, and it is also less work.
- Download once and keep the ZIP if you are building several sites in one session, instead of downloading per site.
- Use staging deployment rather than downloading again for each environment.
When you genuinely need more
Contact support and say what you are doing. A legitimate reason — a migration, a fleet rebuild — is not a problem; support can only help if they know it is happening.
Do not work around the limit by using another account or sharing keys. Both create problems that outlast the download you needed.
If you think the count is wrong
Downloads are counted per license, so multiple people using the same account share the counters. Before reporting a discrepancy, check whether a colleague or an agency also downloads with this account.
Updates are not affected
Reaching a download limit does not stop automatic updates, and it does not affect validation on your sites. It only disables the manual download button.
