My courses returns not found
The My courses entry in the account area leads to a not-found page, or is missing entirely.
1. Re-save the permalink settings
If the endpoint's slug was changed, the site's rewrite rules have to be rebuilt.
Open Settings → Permalinks and use Save Changes without changing anything.
That fixes it in the great majority of cases, and it is the first thing to try.
2. Is WooCommerce active?
My courses is a WooCommerce account endpoint. Without WooCommerce there is no account area, so there is nothing for it to attach to.
If WooCommerce was deactivated, the entry disappears along with the rest of the account menu.
On a site that does not use WooCommerce, students need another route into their courses — a menu link to a catalogue page, and course links in whatever you send them.
3. Does the slug collide with something?
The endpoint's slug is configured under Settings → POM LMS → Account → My account settings.
If a page, another endpoint or a post type base uses the same address, one of them wins. Check your pages and your other WooCommerce endpoints, and choose a slug nothing else uses.
4. Is the entry missing from the menu, rather than 404ing?
Different problem. The entry is inserted into the account menu after its first item.
- If the account menu itself is customized by your theme or another plugin, the entry may have been filtered out. Test with the customization disabled.
- If the section name was cleared, the entry can be hard to spot. Check the Section name setting.
5. The page loads but is empty
Not a 404 — that is the empty-state message, and it means the student has no accessible courses.
Read it as an access symptom: they may be signed in with the wrong account, their subscription may have lapsed, or their order may not have reached a paid status. See A student cannot access a paid course.
While you are there, make the empty message useful — the default is a dead end. See The empty My courses message.
6. It works for you and not for a student
Confirm they are signed in at all. A signed-out visitor opening an account URL is sent to the sign-in page, which some students report as "the page is broken".
Do not hard-code the URL
If you have linked to My courses from a menu or an email with a typed-out path, that link breaks whenever the slug changes.
Link to the account area, and let students find the entry — or rebuild the link after any slug change.
Confirm the fix
- Sign in as a test student with at least one course.
- Open the account area.
- Confirm the entry is present, with the label you configured.
- Confirm it opens, lists the course, and that Access the course works.
- Repeat with a student who has no courses, and confirm the empty message.
