Lesson editor reference
Every field on a lesson.
The WordPress fields

| Title | The lesson name, shown in the outline and on the page |
| Content | The lesson material |
| Featured image | Shown when the lesson layout settings display it |
| Order (page attributes) | The lesson's position in the outline and in previous/next navigation |
| Comments | Supported; display is a site-wide setting |

| Attached course | Select | Which course the lesson belongs to. Without it the lesson's URL returns a not-found result |
| Attached section | Select | Where it appears in the outline. Without it the lesson is absent from the outline |
| Lesson video type | Select | YouTube, Vimeo, or empty for other sources |
| Lesson video URL | URL | The video, rendered above the content |
| Estimated time for the lesson (in minutes) | Text | Shown beside the lesson in the outline; the field suggests mm:ss |
| This lesson is a preview | Toggle | Opens the lesson to people without course access |
| Lesson permission rule (optional override) | Select | Replaces the course's rule for this lesson |
| "Lesson not available" text | Rich text | Overrides the course's blocked-lesson message for this lesson |
The order to fill them in
- Attached course
- Save
- Attached section
- Everything else
The section selector is built from the attached course's sections, so it needs the course to be stored first.
How a lesson's access is decided
- The course's login requirement — a signed-out visitor is blocked.
- The lesson's own permission rule, if selected.
- The course's permission rule, if the lesson has none.
- The course's access, otherwise — including the paid-course check.
Preview lessons bypass this, subject to the course's Preview lessons also require login.
