Tour the POM LMS interface

POM LMS adds one sidebar menu with two content types, two editor panels, two admin columns, and one settings screen.

The Courses menu

A single sidebar entry with lessons nested inside it:

Entry Purpose
All Courses The course list
Add New Course Create a course
Lessons The lesson list, shown under Courses
Add New Lesson Create a lesson

Lessons deliberately live under Courses, because a lesson without a course has nowhere to appear.

The lesson list

The lesson list adds two columns after the title:

  • Course — the course the lesson is attached to, as a link to that course.
  • Section — the section it is assigned to, or a dash.

Lessons are listed in their order attribute sequence rather than by date, which means the admin list matches the order students see. That makes the list the fastest way to check a course's structure.

A lesson showing a dash in the Section column will not appear in the course outline.

The course editor

Below the content editor, a Course settings panel with three tabs:

Configuration

Field Purpose
To access this course, users must be logged in The login gate
Preview lessons also require login Whether previews are gated too
This is a paid course Purchase-based access
Global permission rule The rule that covers the course and its lessons
Add a login form on top Shows a login form above the course
Content if no access What a student without access reads

Sections — the list of section names the outline is built from.

Lessons — the "Lesson not available" text and the "Go back to course" label used by this course's lessons.

The lesson editor

A Lesson settings panel with one tab:

Field Purpose
Attached course Which course this lesson belongs to
Attached section Which section it appears under
Lesson video type YouTube, Vimeo, or leave empty for other sources
Lesson video URL The video
Estimated time for the lesson Shown in the outline
This lesson is a preview Opens the lesson to everyone
Lesson permission rule An override for this lesson only
"Lesson not available" text An override of the course's message

The Attached section list is built from the course you selected, so choose the course first.

Settings → POM LMS

One screen, four sections:

Section Contains
Course Course single, and Course subheader
Lesson Lesson single, and Lesson subheader
Account My account settings, the login-form texts, and the completion mode
License The subscription key

Everything here is site-wide. Nothing on this screen changes one course.

What a student sees

A course page — the description, and a sidebar with the progress bar and the section accordion. Without access, the course's no-access message instead.

A lesson page — the video and the lesson content, the same sidebar, and a link back to the course intro.

My courses — inside the WooCommerce account, a table of the courses they can reach, with completion and the reason for access.
