The single course page
The course page is the introduction to a course and the home of its outline.
What it shows
From top to bottom:
- The subheader, if enabled, with the course title over a background.
- The featured image, if enabled, before or after the title.
- The course description — the editor content.
- The sidebar outline: the progress bar, then sections and lessons.
- Optional blog furniture: date, author, categories, tags, comments, rating.
- Optional previous/next navigation.
For a student without access, the description is replaced by the login form or your no-access message. The outline still shows the structure, with inaccessible lessons disabled.
Visibility settings
Settings → POM LMS → Course → Course single, under Visibility:
| Setting | Notes |
|---|---|
| Display featured image | And Display featured image position — Before post title or After post title |
| Display tags | |
| Display author box | The full biography block |
| Display comments | Courses support comments |
| Display rating | |
| Display post date | |
| Display post author link | The byline, not the box |
| Display post categories |
Most of these are blog conventions, and most courses want them off. A publication date on a course reads as "this is old"; a category list from your blog taxonomy reads as noise. Turn on only what earns its place.
Posts navigation
Under Posts navigation:
| Setting | Effect |
|---|---|
| Display posts nav | Previous/next links between courses |
| Select prev/next in same category | Restricts them to the same category |
| Posts nav icon | The icon between the two links |
| Posts nav icon link | Where that icon goes — usually your catalogue |
On a course page this navigation moves between courses, not lessons. If your catalogue is not an ordered series, it invites students to wander out of what they paid for. Off is a reasonable default.
The progress bar
Under Comments and progress:
| Setting | Effect |
|---|---|
| Display progress bar | Shows the bar in the page layout |
| Progress bar position | Top or Bottom |
| Progress bar color | From the theme palette |
This is the bar in the page itself. The outline in the sidebar has its own progress display, which is always present — so turning this off does not leave students without a percentage.
The course overlay
Under Course overlay:
| Setting | Effect |
|---|---|
| Overlay background color | The color shown while a lesson loads |
| Overlay spinner | The loading image |
Lessons load without a full page reload, and this overlay covers the moment in between. Pick a color matching your page background so the transition is invisible, and a spinner that matches your brand.
The comment button
Comment button style picks one of the theme's defined button styles for the comment form. It only matters if comments are on.
Settings are site-wide
Every course page uses these settings. There is no per-course override.
Verify
- Open a course as an administrator.
- Confirm the elements you enabled appear, and nothing else.
- Confirm the featured image is in the position you chose.
- Open a lesson from the outline and watch the overlay — confirm the color and spinner look deliberate.
- Sign out and confirm the page still reads well without access.
