A course does not appear
The course is missing from a list, or its URL returns not found.
Which one is it?
| Symptom | Go to |
|---|---|
| Not in My courses | Section 1 |
| Not on my catalogue page | Section 2 |
| Its URL returns not found | Section 3 |
| Not in the menu editor's post list | Section 4 |
1. Missing from My courses
This is an access symptom, not a display one. The list contains only courses the student can access. A course they cannot open is absent — there is no locked or greyed-out row.
Check, in this order:
- Is the course published?
- Is the student signed in with the right account? Buying on one address and signing in on another is the most common cause, and it is invisible to the student.
- What does the course require? Login, a permission rule, or a purchase.
- Does the student meet it? For a purchase, check the order is in a paid status. For a subscription, check it is active. For a rule, check the student matches it.
See A student cannot access a paid course.
2. Missing from the catalogue page
Courses have no archive. POM LMS does not generate a listing page, so your catalogue is something the site builds — a hand-written page, a theme content module, or your shop.
- A hand-written page lists what you put on it. New courses do not appear by themselves.
- A theme module queries courses; check its filters and its limit.
- The shop lists products, not courses. A course with no product will never appear there.
3. The URL returns not found
In order of likelihood:
- The course is a draft. Publish it.
- The course URL base was changed and the rewrite rules were not rebuilt. Open Settings → Permalinks and use Save Changes without changing anything.
- The slug collides with a page. If a page exists at the same address as the course base, one of them wins. Rename one.
- The course was deleted. Check the trash.
If the base was changed on a live site, old URLs stay broken until you add redirects. See Migrating course URLs.
4. Missing from the menu editor
Expected. Courses are not offered in the menu editor's automatic post list, because they have no archive.
Add them as Custom Links, pasting the course URL.
Still missing
Confirm the plugin is active, and that POM Theme is the active theme — POM LMS depends on it. Then check whether any course opens correctly: a site-wide failure and a single-course failure have different causes.
If one course fails and the rest work, the difference is in that course's configuration. Compare it with one that works, field by field.
