The empty My courses message

What a student reads when they open My courses and have nothing in it.

The default

You don't have any active courses

Accurate, and a dead end. A student who lands there has no idea what to do next.

Change it

Settings → POM LMS → Account → My account settings → "No courses found" default text

The field accepts formatted text and links, and it is translatable, so it can be a proper signpost:

You don't have any courses yet. Browse the course catalogue to get started — or if you have just bought a course and it isn't showing, contact us.

Who sees it

More people than you would expect:

Situation Why the list is empty
New customer, nothing bought Genuinely empty
Just purchased The order has not reached a paid status yet
Subscription lapsed Access ended; progress is intact
Refunded or cancelled Access ended
Time-limited rule expired The purchase-date window has closed
Signed in as the wrong account Bought on one account, signed in on another

The last one is common and invisible to the student. A line about it saves real support time:

If you bought a course and don't see it, check you are signed in with the address you used at checkout.

What to include

  • A route forward — a link to the catalogue or shop page.
  • A reason it might be empty — recent orders and wrong-account sign-in.
  • A way to reach you — a contact link.

Keep it to three or four lines. This is a stub page, not an article.

What it never shows

  • Courses the student cannot access. There is no greyed-out or locked entry — an inaccessible course is simply absent.
  • Past courses whose access has ended.
  • Anything about pending orders.

That absence is why the message has to do the explaining.

Translate it

The text is stored as a translatable field. If your site runs multiple languages, translate it with the rest of your interface strings, and make sure the links in it point to the right language version of the catalogue.

Verify

  1. Write the message and save.
  2. Sign in as a test account with no courses.
  3. Open My courses.
  4. Confirm the message renders with working links.
  5. Grant that account a course and confirm the message is replaced by the list.
