Workflows
Complete procedures, start to finish. Each article here builds one kind of course from an empty editor to a tested launch, using the settings and fields documented in the earlier chapters.
In this chapter
| Workflow | Article |
|---|---|
| Open to everyone, or to any signed-in member | Free course workflow |
| Sold once through WooCommerce | Paid course workflow |
| Included with a subscription or a role | Membership-style course workflow |
| Paid, with sample lessons open to all | Preview course workflow |
| Checking a course before it goes live | Course quality review |
| Changing course and lesson URLs on a live site | Migrating course URLs |
Choosing a workflow
| Your course is | Use |
|---|---|
| A lead magnet, or free to all | Free |
| Sold as a one-off product | Paid |
| Part of a membership, a subscription, or for staff | Membership-style |
| Sold, but needs a sample to sell it | Preview |
The four are not exclusive. A paid course can carry previews; a membership course can also be sold individually, by giving it both a rule and a product.
What every workflow shares
Whatever kind of course you are building, the same skeleton applies:
- Create the course, with a title, a description and a featured image.
- Define its sections.
- Create the lessons and attach each one to the course and a section.
- Configure access.
- Write the no-access message.
- Test as a real student, in a private window.
- Publish and link it from your catalogue.
The workflows differ only in step 4 and in what step 5 has to say.
Before you start
- POM Theme active, and POM LMS activated with a valid license.
- WooCommerce, for anything paid.
- At least one test account that is not an administrator — the only way to see what students see. See Test the course as a student.
After launch
Nothing in POM LMS notifies you or your students about anything. No enrollment email, no reminder, no completion notice, no report.
Whatever you want students to receive lives in your mailing tool or in your WooCommerce order emails, and the link to put in it is the account area.
