General settings

Use Settings → General settings to configure the most frequently changed site options and the values reused by Pomatio's legal shortcodes.

Audience and prerequisites

This guide is for site Administrators, Editors and Shop managers. Editors and Shop managers can open and save this screen without additional profile flags. Confirm which site you are editing when working in a multisite network.

Before changing a live site, record its current language, timezone and search visibility. Those choices can affect visitors, scheduled content and indexing immediately.

Configure the site

  1. Open the dashboard of the intended site.
  2. Go to Settings → General settings.
  3. Review the fields in the order shown below.
  4. Select Save Changes.
  5. Confirm the green Settings saved. notice.

Site identity

Field Purpose
Site title The public site name used by WordPress and by themes that display it
Tagline A short site description used only where the active theme requests it

Changing these values does not edit a logo or a page heading that was entered manually in a page builder.

Search engine visibility

The checkbox is labelled Allow search engines to index this site. Keep it selected for a public production site. Clear it only when search engines should be discouraged from indexing the site, such as during a private build.

When this option is cleared, Pomatio displays a red warning at the top of the site's administration screens. Select the option and save the settings to clear the warning.

This WordPress setting is a request to search engines, not access control. It does not make a site private or prevent someone with its address from visiting it.

SEO scores in Rank Math

When Rank Math is active and your role can use its SEO tools, the post editor and the SEO Details column under Posts → All Posts or Pages → All Pages can display the available SEO score. Pomatio keeps the public score badge hidden from visitors.

To review a score, open the post or page, enter its Focus Keyword in Rank Math, let its content analysis finish, and save your changes. Return to the list and check SEO Details. Content without a focus keyword or a saved positive score, and content marked No Index, can still display N/A.

An SEO score is an editorial assessment, not confirmation that a search engine has indexed the page. Changing site visibility does not calculate or refresh scores.

Publisher logo in Rank Math

Set the organization's logo under Rank Math SEO → Titles & Meta → Local SEO. When Rank Math produces publisher data without a logo, Pomatio uses the WordPress site icon as an ImageObject fallback. An existing Rank Math logo is preserved.

To verify it, open a public page and inspect its JSON-LD. The publisher's logo should use "@type": "ImageObject" and the intended image URL. This metadata does not change the visible header logo.

Site language

Site language controls the locale WordPress uses for the site interface and for available translations. It does not translate content that has already been written.

Additional languages appear only when WordPress can install their language packs and the current user has the required installation permission.

Field Stored value
Fiscal name The legal name of the organization or individual responsible for the site
Fiscal address The corresponding legal or fiscal address
NIF The tax or identification number supplied by the responsible party
Mercantile register The complete registry statement, where applicable
Email for legal issues A valid, monitored email address for legal contact

These values feed the legal shortcodes. They do not change billing details in your POM account or WooCommerce settings.

Time and date

Field Guidance
Timezone Prefer a named city timezone because it follows daylight-saving changes; a manual UTC offset remains available
Date format Choose a preset or enter a valid custom WordPress date format
Time format Choose a preset or enter a valid custom WordPress time format
Week starts on Select the day used as the beginning of calendar weeks

The timezone affects scheduled posts and every feature that uses WordPress local time. Check it before scheduling content.

Content defaults

Field Purpose
Posts per page The default number of posts in WordPress archive queries; the value must be at least one
Default post category The category assigned when a post is saved without another category

A theme or page builder may use a custom query and ignore Posts per page. The default category must already exist.

Administration email confirmation

Pomatio does not interrupt administrators periodically with WordPress's Confirm your administration email screen. This policy does not change the stored administration email address and does not bypass the verification required when that address is changed.

Expected result

The page reloads with Settings saved. and the new values become active on that site. Any page using a legal shortcode displays the newly saved value on its next request.

Verify the result

  1. Reload Settings → General settings and confirm the selected values remain.
  2. Open the front page and check any visible site title or tagline.
  3. Check a dated item and, if relevant, a scheduled post.
  4. Open every public page that contains legal shortcodes and read the rendered sentences.
  5. If the site is live, confirm Allow search engines to index this site is selected.

Troubleshooting

  • The menu is missing: confirm you have the Administrator, Editor or Shop manager role on this site and that Pomatio is active network-wide.
  • The page saves but a title does not change: that title may be hard-coded in a template or page builder instead of using the WordPress option.
  • A language is not listed: its language pack may not be installed or installable by your account.
  • Dates remain wrong: check both the timezone and the individual feature's own scheduling settings.
  • A legal sentence has a gap: fill the corresponding field, save, and verify the shortcode on the front end.
