Write WooCommerce product descriptions
Use Products → AI product descriptions to generate descriptions for one product, a selection or your editable product catalog. Enable the tool under Settings → POM AI → AI Tools first. WooCommerce must be active, and you need permission to edit the selected products plus a valid POM AI service license with available credits.
Reload the administration page after enabling the tool. Multisite super administrators use the Products menu in the individual site's dashboard. If your site grants you access to the AI catalog tools without the regular catalog permissions, use Tools → AI product descriptions instead.
This tool updates existing products, including published ones. It does not create new products or change their names, URLs, prices, stock, attributes or publication status. Back up important content before replacing it.
Choose the output
- Choose Model: Basic, Pro, or Pro + internet. Basic balances speed and cost; Pro adds reasoning; Pro + internet researches each product before writing.
- Choose Descriptions to generate:
- Short description updates only the product's short description.
- Long description updates only the main description.
- Both descriptions generates and updates both fields.
- Set Long description word target when applicable. The recommendation is 300 words, with a range of 100–2,000 and an approximate output length. The control is disabled for short-only generation.
- Choose Existing descriptions: Replace text, Append, or Prepend. The same mode applies independently to each selected description field. Unselected fields remain unchanged.
Newly generated short descriptions aim for 30–50 words and are capped at 50 words. This is fixed rather than configurable. Append and Prepend retain existing text, so the combined short-description field can exceed 50 words. Choose Replace text if you want to replace a long existing short description with concise new copy.
Supply context and select products
Enter a Shared brief, preferably in Markdown, with the audience, tone, buying questions, keywords and claims to avoid. The limit is 90,000 characters. The tool also uses the relevant business profile, product name, SKU, type, categories, attributes, dimensions, weight and bounded excerpts of existing descriptions. It does not send customer or order records.
Use Search by name and Search to find products. Select one or more checkboxes, use Select displayed items, or choose Select all matching. Leave the search empty before selecting all to include the whole editable product catalog, not just the rows already displayed. Load more shows another group of up to 50. Uncheck individual rows to exclude them.
Product variations are not separate rows: select their parent product. The tool uses the parent's saved attributes, not an exhaustive analysis of every variation. Supply important model-specific facts in the brief and verify all claims before relying on them.
For individual guidance, expand Refine prompt for this item. Its additional prompt is appended to the shared brief, up to 10,000 characters. For example:
Focus on buyers with limited space. Use the saved dimensions to explain suitability without claiming it will fit every room. Explain the listed features in practical terms, avoid invented certifications, and do not introduce delivery promises. Keep the short description focused on the primary benefit; organize the long description into features, suitable uses and care guidance where those facts are available.
Explicit selections persist across searches. Changing the search clears a previous Select all matching selection. The selection and prompts become persistent only after you prepare the batch.
Prepare, estimate and generate
- Click Prepare batch to save the fixed configuration and prepare the next product. This does not generate text or consume AI credits.
- Optionally click Estimate next item. This covers that product's pending research and writing, including both descriptions when selected. It is not a whole-batch quote.
- Click Start / resume and confirm the catalog update. The tool processes all remaining selected products sequentially.
- Use Pause after this step to stop after the current request. Closing the screen also leaves saved progress available; returning requires an explicit resume.
- Review each product through Open editor and inspect the storefront. Review research sources, remove unsupported claims and check the long-description layout.
The latest 100 result entries are displayed. Completed/skipped counters cover the full batch. A separate saved product batch belongs to each user and site; it does not replace their category batch.
Recover safely
Do not manually edit or publish the current product during generation. If a selected description, product name or publication status changes, the tool stops instead of applying stale copy. Skip current item moves past a conflict; already consumed credits are not refunded. You can then create a new batch using the updated product.
If a connection fails, reload and resume the saved batch. A saved result can be applied without purchasing another generation. Clear batch removes saved progress only: it does not restore previous descriptions or undo completed writes.
Individually selected IDs and exclusions are limited to 5,000 each. Select all matching traverses larger catalogs progressively. Additional item prompts may total up to 1 MB. Products created after preparation are not included; changes to names can affect pending search matches. Keep the selected catalog stable during large runs.
WooCommerce deactivation makes these tools and their activation controls unavailable. If generation reports insufficient credits or a service error, resolve that issue and resume rather than starting a duplicate batch.
